The design I chose for print making was the Avengers symbol. At first this was a complicated design because Mrs. Meyer said to try to stay away from circles and letters, mine included both. The process of cutting out the design on the linoleum block print was complicated but it soon got easier. after i cut put the design we had to choose one or two colors; I chose blue and red. After we chose the colors we had to roll the first color out on a tray with a brayer (roller). We then rolled the first color over the linoleum and pressed it down the the paper. We did several of these. After the first color I cut out part of the design and started on the other color and printed several of those.
Lauren, you did a fabulous job on your artwork! I thought it was neat that you challenged yourself throughout this project. You did an amazing design with sharp colors! I look forward to seeing your future projects!
Hey Lauren! My name is Laura and I'm a student at the University of South Alabama. I was so excited when I saw your blog post because printmaking is actually exactly what I did in my college art class this week too! You really did choose a difficult design - I surely wouldn't tackle trying to make letters turn out right! But I do think your design looks great. We just used styrofoam for our stamps, so I want to look into the linoleum block you used. Have a great week! :)
Hi, I really like how you made it the avengers logo because I am a fan of them as well. I also like how it looks like the red and the blue are one color. Nice job!
Lauren, I really like how you didn't just do a simple design after you realized this one was pretty complicated. I thought yours was very neat because once you got the red done, you couldn't go back and redo it because you had to cut everything out except the A so you could make that blue. It turned out great! :)
